Small Scope Jam: Revived
Discord: Join the server
Lore: The last Small Scope Jam went quiet, so we're picking it back up.
The Goal
Focus on making one solid, fun game mechanic that you could polish, be satisfied with, and share.
Then take it to the next level: if you have time, find more creative ways to explore that mechanic's essence!
Example: "I want to focus on block-pushing puzzles. Once the basics work, and I'm able to unlock the next room, I can make different kinds of blocks, like slippery blocks!"
Why?
A lot of games don't get finished. If you follow a "finish something small" formula and avoid hours of big ideas, you have a better chance of finishing a game.
Rules
Voting
Vote on a few random games before free-voting, so even games without a good cover get a fair chance.
Entries
- One entry. Focus!
- Add at least 1 gameplay screenshot to your game page.
- Explain the controls in your description.
- Browser builds are strongly recommended.
- Your entry must be submitted only to this and/or the original Small Scope Jam (you may submit to both)
AI, effort, and outsourcing
- Allowed: AI assistance, as long as the game itself comes from you: your design, your decisions, your creativity, your iteration.
- Not allowed: Low human involvement. Hosts will remove entries that seem low-effort.
Positivity
Be positive and constructive in comments and on the Discord. Bring all concerns to the host. Make friends for the next jam!
Voting Criteria
- Fun: How fun is it? (1 = closed it, 5 = the most fun out of any game here)
- Clarity of Mechanic: How clear was the main mechanic? (1 = unclear, 5 = obvious)
- Exploration: How creatively does the game build on or twist its mechanic? (1 = eh, 5 = mind blown)
- Buglessness: Do bugs or crashes hurt it? (1 = fun ruined, 5 = no issues!)
