WELCOME TO THE SHADER JAM 2025!

Make a game, fit the theme, and most importantly have fun!

This jams focus is shaders, feel free to do something as simple as a hologram shader behind a painting, something as complicated as a ray tracer or a toon shader, or anything in between, the only requirement is that the game has one visible shader! A theme will be revealed at the start of the jam, feel free to use it for extra points or completely ignore it.

Content policy

You can use any free or paid assets/tools that you have the right to use. You may not use generative AI of any type for your game. But if you can it's always better to make your own assets or team with someone who can do it for you (will earn you some more points in originality if nothing else).

Voting

During the voting period you may fix bugs but not add features, the original build must be available and new updates should be clearly labeled.

The seven voting criteria are:

Fun -> how fun was the game?

Theme -> how well did the game fit the theme?

Originality -> how original was the idea?

Graphics -> how good were the graphics?

Audio -> how good was the audio?

Shaders -> how good were the shaders?

Narrative -> how well was the story/narrative of the game told?

Rules

Properly credit all external sources of assets.

You may only create bug fixes during the rating period, not any new features, you must keep the original version of the game up and clearly label it, I will remove any games updating features during the rating period. After the rating period you are free to do anything with the game.

The game must have at least one shader, it should be visible to the player at some moment while playing the game.

Most of the shaders must be made by you or a team member.

No NSFW / discriminatory content in the game.

BTW

Here is a website I found with a bunch of shader tutorials (for unity): https://ameye.dev/. I myself have followed most of these tutorials to learn shader graph in unity, it's also great if you prefer a tutorial to read through instead of a video tutorial (I do).
