This is the Fourth Annual GOATSNAX Secret Santa Game Jam! The details are all posted in the Discord server so make sure you join the server when you register for the jam, otherwise you won't be able to see your prompt!
You will be provided with (and providing yourself) a short 3-word prompt, and be given 2 weeks to make a game based on that prompt. On December 25th the games will all be made visible and you will be able to see what game was made for you!
YES!!! The GOATSNAX jam is targeted at brand new game makers, even with zero coding experience, so there will be tons of people like you, plus some veteran jammers who are happy to help out! Everyone in the Discord is divided into teams, so there will be some people who can help you without spoiling the surprise for your recipient.
The games should have around 1 to 10 minutes of gameplay as a rule of thumb. There's no pressure to create a masterpiece, just to try something new and make something fun!

We will be offering two open classes to help brand new developers, one in GameMaker, and one in Scratch. Both with be hosted in the Discord server's "Screenshare" voice channel.
The GameMaker class will be on Wednesday Dec 13th, from 6 - 8 PM CST. It will be aimed at jammers who have some familiarity with coding, even if you've never actually written any yourself.
The Scratch class will be on Sunday Dec 16th, from 1 - 3 PM CST. It will be aimed at jammers who just want to get their foot in the door of making a game, but don't feel ready for full programming.
Join our Discord server to get started! You'll find tons of experienced developers who can help you get started with free or free-trial software to use, for any skill level including no coding experience at all. You could even make a physical game if you'd rather (Tabletop game, Role playing game, Sport, etc), provided you have a way to gift it.
This year the prompts will be: Noun, Verb, Adjective.
You will be writing three words, one for each category, such as "Car, Drive, Fast "
You type your prompts into the #personal-prompts channel of the Discord by the end of December 9th.
You can submit your prompts in the Discord right now! We will be sending everyone their Secret Santa on the December 9th at midnight and you can get started as soon as you get it. Submissions will be open from December 10th until midnight on December 24th.

If your discord name doesn't match your itch.io name, makes sure to give yourself a server nickname that does. Once you've join the admins will give you the roles you need, and you can select some custom roles to identify yourself.
