This is the second Scratch Attack Game Jam. Scratch is a block coding software designed to introduce kids to coding. Although it's made for kids, you can do a lot with it, and some have even made 3d games even though it's a 2d engine.

To create a game, go to scratch.mit.edu, make an account if you don't have one, click "Create", and get coding! Once you've finished your game, click the orange "Share" button, then copy the link. It should look something like this: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/729251235/. Next, go to turbowarp.org and paste in the link to your game where it says to. Then, click "File" in the top right corner, then "Package Project", and then select the setting and file type you want. Then put the file in an itch.io project, and submit it! After the submissions have closed, you will have 5 days to vote on projects based on the criteria of Theme, Sound, Visuals, Gameplay, Buggyness, and Originality. After the voting period ends, the winner will be declared, and the jam will be over.

Feel free to interpret the theme in any way you want, whether that means solving an impossible puzzle or making a rage game or something else. There are lots of possibilities!

  • Your game must be made in Scratch or a scratch mod like Turbowarp or PenguinMod.
  • Your game must be made for only this game jam, during the allowed time period.
  • You can use basic scripts/systems that you have made in the past, but you can't just take an existing game and make new levels/retexture it.  For example, some basic scrolling calculations would be allowed, but a full platformer engine is not. The most complicated thing you can have is a player controller(or something of equivalent complexity) already made. There is an exception for tri-fillers because that stuff's complicated. If you have questions about this, feel free to ask.
  • Your game must follow the theme.
  • No NSFW/offensive games.
  • There is a team size limit of 5 people. This includes coding, art, music, sound, etc. You may use existing media, which does not count as a team member but if it was made specifically for your game the creator counts as a team member.
  • Your game can't just be a remix/copy of someone else's game. Suspicious games will be checked for this.
  • Be kind, and don't insult others or their skills.
  • You must use the TurboWarp(or any other) packager to convert your game to a file that can be run in a browser or downloaded. If your submission is just a .sb3 file, a web page, a link, etc., you will be warned and you will have a day to fix it. If it has not been fixed, your submission will be removed.
  • You can submit a maximum of 3 games. Any more will be deleted.
  • Submissions must be free to play and download. We shouldn't have to say this but it's becoming a problem.

Good luck, and have fun, and if you have questions, ask in the Community tab. If you miss the submission deadline by a maximum of 4 hours, you can make a community post with a link to your game and it may be added to the submissions manually.
