Desde 2010, bem antes de haver game jams no itch.io, o #RPGenesis sempre lançou este desafio a novos criadores: escreve 5000+ palavras em sete dias e cria um RPG que alguém possa jogar, uma versão inicial que possa ser a génese de um projeto bem-sucedido.
A edição de 2026 do #RPGenesis tem a sua janela de submissão definida de 1 a 9 de agosto de 2026, com o horário exato indicado no topo desta página. A janela é um pouco mais larga do que sete dias para acomodar participantes em diferentes fusos horários, mas o desafio criativo continua a ser o mesmo: escrever 5000+ palavras em sete dias.
É permitido preparar o projeto antes da janela de submissão. Podes pensar no conceito, falar com outras pessoas, juntar referências e até testar ideias. O texto submetido para o desafio deve ser novo e escrito para esta edição do #RPGenesis.
Podes participar a solo ou em equipa, em qualquer língua. O teu jogo pode usar um sistema original ou um sistema em licença aberta, desde que expliques as regras pelas tuas próprias palavras e que a submissão seja jogável por si só. Não precisas de entregar um livro finalizado: uma versão inicial, clara e jogável já cumpre o espírito do evento.

Since 2010, long before itch.io game jams, #RPGenesis has challenged new creators to do one thing: write 5000+ words in seven days and create an RPG that someone can actually play, an initial version that could become the genesis of a successful project.
The 2026 edition of #RPGenesis has its submission window set for 1 to 9 August 2026, with the exact times shown at the top of this page. The window is slightly longer than seven days to accommodate participants in different time zones, but the creative challenge remains the same: write 5000+ words in seven days.
You are allowed to prepare your project before the submission window. You can think about the concept, talk with other people, gather references, and even test ideas. The text submitted for the challenge must be new and written for this edition of #RPGenesis.
You can participate solo or as a team, in any language. Your game can use an original system or an open-licensed system, as long as you explain the rules in your own words and the submission is playable on its own. You do not need to submit a finished book: a clear, playable first version already fulfils the spirit of the event.
