What is this? 🤔

Every year Rickards Programming club teams up with Creative Tech Club to bring you the RPC x CTC game jam! A game jam is a competition between individuals or teams to see who can make the better game that also follows the theme of jam for a prize. It's basically a game making competition but with a theme that everyone has to follow.

Of course the game that you want to make has to fit inside of the theme of the game jam which will be announced a day before before starting. After you have submitted your game and the submission period is over, your game will be rated by other players and you will also be able to vote on games.

I've never done a game jam before... 🫠

Don't worry! There is a first for everything. This game jam is a perfect start for beginners. You'll learn so much as you progress and it's always worth a shot! Even if you don't finish in time, submit what you did finish and know that you've come a long a way just by trying something new. Here's a helpful video.

Do I have to work by myself? 👤

No, you may form a team consisting up to 4 members. Everyone on your team doesn't need to enter the game jam, you may have one person make an itch.io account and enter the game jam for for the whole team whilst other members can be listed as contributors. Note that contributors are not allowed to vote, so it is up to your entire team on how they want to score a game.

What will be the theme? 🎨

The specific theme will be revealed a day before the game jam, but here are a few clues in the case you might find the theme to be exciting. Each clue is related to each other and builds upon the previous one. 

Clue 1: We flee in these so that we can enjoy paradise without the suffering of the other side.

Clue 2: We think we have it because we're told we do. We do not question nor do we venture. But little do we know, what we're told takes this from us.

Clue 3: Civilizations prosper and die because of its nature. It is cyclic in nature to some,  to others it is a beacon of positive emotions, and it has evolved over millennia.

Team Rules

✓ Max 4 members to a team. 

 ✓ Under the age of 13 must have parent/guardian submitting. 

 ✓ At least 1 person per team needs to join itch.io and submit game (team members can join as contributors).

Game Compatibility

✓ Must be playable with mouse + keyboard.

✓ Any engine and style is allowed.

 ✓ Must be hosted on Itch, no extra downloads.

Content Rules

✓ Make sure your game follows the PG-13 guidelines.

 ✓ May use pre-existing code (give credit)

 ✓ May use art/assets which are not made by you, if allowed (give proper credit)

Behavior

✓ Be friendly and respectful to everyone.

✗ No NSFW content.

✗ NOTHING can be AI.

The games should be the rated as per the following criteria:

🤎Anything you make during the RPC x CTC Game Jam is you property. We do claim any rights or ownership to your property.

🤎Any submission to the RPC x CTC Game Jam (including the game, Itch page,  artwork etc.) may show up on YouTube, and other      social media channels, which include but is not limited to X, Instagram, and Discord.

🤎We reserve the right to disqualify or remove any submission from the competition.
