During the month of February, craft a game that has a major or minor theme of Romance.
The Bramble Berry Games' Community is hosting this game jam. If you'd like support throughout the jam, please join us in our Discord.
Your submission must abide by Bramble Berry Games' Community Code of Conduct (no NSFW, pornography, bigotry, hate speech, etc) , and your submission must be listed as free or PWYW until March 20th. After the voting period, you will be offered a spot in a romance themed game bundle, and we encourage you to set a price for your game at that time. Additionally, you are encouraged to include appropriate safety tools and content warnings as well as notes on the accessibility of your game.
This jam is open to games of all mediums, but there will be a focus on storytelling games, specifically analog, tabletop games; virtual novels; and Twine games.
Note: Submissions may be removed at the sole discretion of the organizers. This should not happen if your game caters to the theme (romance) and abides by the above rules.
At the end of the Jam, there will be a rating period of a few weeks. Your game will be rated on:
Theme: How well your game uses the theme of romance.
Enjoyment: How much you enjoyed your time with the game.
Concept: How interesting or unique the main focus of the game is.
Writing: How well the writing directs the player and evokes the theme.
Mechanics: How unique the mechanics are and how well they evoke the theme.
Art: How aesthetically pleasing the game is. This includes anything visual -- layout, graphics, illustrations, etc.
Can I edit my game after the submission time is past? The files are going to be locked but you will be able to change your page design and content.
Can I submit after the submission time is past? No, so manage your time well.
Can I work on more than one game? Yep! Don’t overwork yourself though. Remember that self-care is paramount.
What assets can I use? So long as you have a license for whatever assets you use, you can use whatever you want.
Can I submit my game to other jams as well? Yes, as long as the other jam is okay with it and the game fits both themes.
