Welcome to the Rhythmic Retro Jam! The jam that explores what Rhythm Games could have been like!
This jam lasts 31 days, so get creative with it! Give your rhythm games an overworld, an unorthodox gameplay style, a branching narrative, high polish charts, intuitive editors, fun modifiers, and all or none of the above!
Theme: 🕷🎃Halloween👻â˜
You can interpret the theme however you like! It can be as complex as recreating all of Nightmare Before Christmas for the Nintendo DS, to as simple as literally just using the color orange! Get creative and go crazy!
What is "Retro"?
"Retro" for this jam means anything before the PS3/XBox360 Era. So from the mid-2000's to as far back in time as you'd like!
Low-Poly, Pixel Sprites, Vector Graphics, you name it!
You do not need to adhere to the technical limitations of the time, but you should evoke the same style both visually and musically.
Ranking: Your game will be ranked by the following criteria:
- Music. Does your rhythm game have bangers that fit the style?
- Gameplay. Does your rhythm game play well for most skill levels?
- Accessibility. Does your rhythm game let players modify the difficulty for their skill level? Can you slow down or speed up songs?
- Visual Style. Does your rhythm game look cool and fit the retro style?
RULES:
- No bigotry, homophobia, transphobia, racism, that kind of stuff.
- No Illegal Assets. Only use assets that you legally are allowed to use. Your own Remixes/Covers of songs are generally always legal.

- Any Engine. You are allowed to use any engine you would like, but it must export to windows or web.
- Teams of any size are allowed.
