Instead of creating a game from scratch based on a theme, you'll be provided with a bare-bones project to build off of and change however you see fit! Your goal is to remix and rework the existing game into your own creation while retaining some of the original mechanics. To reiterate: there is no theme! Do your best to develop an original game from the base game!

It is shown in your local time at the top of this page!
But here it is in PST time for reference: Friday, November 3, 2023 11:00 AM to Tuesday, November 7, 2023 12:00 PM (PST)

Hit "Join jam" button at the top of this page and be sure to join one of our servers! (or both, but either way we love you unconditionally), before the time is over, publish the game on itch and submit it here!

Q: What are the categories that players will vote for?
A:
Q: Is there a theme?
A: Uhh well, not exactly. At the start of the jam we will reveal a game and provide source code for you to remix it. You will have to keep certain mechanics.
Q: How will I know what mechanics I need to retain from the base game?
A: This will be revealed when the jam starts.
Q: What game engines are allowed?
A: Any of them!
Q: In what formats will the base game be available in?
A: The base game will be available in project formats for GameMaker and Godot. The source code and any additional assets will also be available.
Q: Do I have to use the given source code?
A: Nope, the game is fairly small to recreate but using the source code does feel more like "remixing" the game. There are also some unfunny jokes and secrets hidden there...
Q: Is there a prize for the jam winner?
A: Yes! The winner of the Jam will get double prizes: a special role in both the Frogwell and Gamedev Graveyard Discord servers, and the opportunity to co-develop the base game for the next Remix It Jam with the hosts!
