Memory Jam is a one-off Game Jam where you create a game relating to the theme Memory! We will be streaming all entries over on Twitch (to make sure this is possible, please make sure your entry is playable in browser).
A Game Jam is a short event where you work alone or in a team to create a small game. Game Jams usually have some kind of restriction or theme to get your creative juices pumping. Game jams are a great way test yourself, try new ideas, and meet other cool people! We really recommend joining them even if your final game ends up buggy; You will thank yourself in the future! You should totally join the Discord BTW if you're looking for teammates or wanna share your progress!
The main theme of this jam is Memory! Feel free to interpret this theme however you see fit!
Maybe you want to make a game like concentration or the missing item memory game where remembering things is a key feature.
Or maybe you want to lean more towards your own memories or things that make you feel nostalgic. Cherished memories like going to the beach with your friends or making a pillow fort with your siblings can be used as inspiration. Or maybe you played a game with your friends as a kid that you'd like to revisit! Get inspired however you can! :D
An optional theme will be announced at the start of the jam! Don't feel pressured to use the optional theme, it is just there to help you think of more ideas!
The optional theme is Reflect!
Yes!! All submitted games MUST be playable in browser. Feel free to include downloadable versions alongside the browser version.
Sexually explicit material is not allowed in this jam. Offensive and discriminatory games are also not allowed. Slight blood and gore, adult topics, and explicit language are fine. Just make sure to mention this at the top of your game page/the start of your game. If your game goes against Twitch TOS we will not stream it.
Nope! Use whatever you need as long as your game can be played in browser.
You can use asset packs, etc. as long as you have the correct rights and credit the creators appropriately. Use of generative AI is not allowed. There's also the possibility of joining a team if you only want to focus on one point of the creative process!
There's no maximum team size but we recommend keeping your team small to help keep communication simple. Looking for teammates? You should totally join the Discord!
As long as they were all started during the jam period! We'd recommend spending your time polishing one game instead of trying to make multiple though.
No. Please only submit games that were started during the jam period. It's ok to reuse basic code from other projects though (stuff like player movement script, etc).
Sure! Even if your game isn't perfect it's definitely worth submitting! You worked hard on it so show it of!
A game that fit the theme Memory is Edith Finch, if you feel stuck have a look at it :)
