Get ready to RAISE! YOUR! VOICE! We're excited to bring a brand new event focused on helping developers explore and celebrate the art of voice acting in narrative games. Whether you're fully voicing a short project or adding a few key moments of dialogue to make your story pop, this jam is here to encourage you to experiment, learn, and grow.
Raise Your Voice is part of DevTalk's mission to elevate visual novels and storytelling games by making professional skills like casting, directing, and producing voice acting accessible to everyone. We want to help developers build confidence in working with actors, preparing scripts, and adding performances that make scenes unforgettable.
No rewrites allowed! This jam is specifically about adding voice acting to a finished script.
This is a maximum count of voiced lines for each each actor, across all characters the actor plays in a given project. You're welcome to add more voiced lines after the jam ends, if you'd like.
Actors are encouraged to set boundaries during recruitment if they would prefer a smaller quantity of lines.
A single line may be no more than 30 words long. If it’s longer, it counts as multiple lines toward your limit.
You are welcome to use voice barks as part of your 100 lines, and they can be reused as many times as you like.
When casting, developers must share the following with prospective actors:
Visual novels and narrative hybrids are welcome. Commercial releases are not — games must be released under itch.io’s "free" or "pay what you want" option.
We want this jam to be accessible to all audiences, and some participants may be minors in their regions.
Humans must voice act, illustrate, write, and program your submission. AI-generated voiceover, art, writing, and code are strictly prohibited, including in any third-party assets you choose to use.
Please follow the ESRB’s content descriptors as a guideline for what to include.
There are no restrictions on how early you begin work, recruitment or recording. The jam period is merely for the submission of projects.
