Welcome to the first Purplecade game jam
Hosted by Purplecade
This Jam is meant for starters to see if they can make their first game well, and any feedback along other newcomers. Professionals are allowed to join in, but the primary audience is people who are new to game development
The theme:Will be revealed when the jam starts
THE RULES
- NO STOLEN CONTENT:If you use another games assets, get their permission first, and have proof of permission ready(A screenshot). Any games with stolen assets will be removed from the jam
- NO AI ALLOWED:No AI is to be used at all for your game. These games will be removed from the jam. Should you get caught, Purplecade can run just about any jam owner command on your part, so be warned.
- Note:The only exception to this rule is if you made a game via a third party web engine, such as fancade or puzzlescript, and use AI to create code to embed the game in an index.html file so it can be played via browser. It must be minimal(Game appears on launch) and you MUST ask Purplecade for permission. If he declines, then no permission will be granted and the choice is final. No other exceptions shall be granted
- NO SPAM:Don’t submit a random game just to gain traction on it:This is a no-brained, but don’t submit your game solely to get it more attention. A report will be sent to itch.io admins, who shall take away your ability to take part or host in all game jams if you get caught.
- NO SOCK-PUPPETING:This includes creating alternative accounts just to get your game more plays. You can be punished by itch.io staff and, again, lose your ability to host and join any more game jams
- DO NOT PLAGIARIZE AND STEAL ANOTHER GAME:Don’t take another person’s game and take credit for it as your own. This is the same as rules 1 and 3, and the same punishments and consequences will apply
- CUSTOM CSS:This also applies to itch.io policies, but if you use Custom CSS for your page, make sure it is balanced well and that the page does not break
- NSFW Content:Adult content is ok, but you must use the adult content warning as stated by itch.io’s policies. You also shouldn’t use an explicit image as your thumbnail, and the content in question must be legal(Your game will be reported if it is found to contain ANYTHING that would be illegal in the real world)
- THEME RULES:The game must fit the theme. This isn’t a rule, it’s more of a reminder, and is highly recommended rather than required. Please note though, if it does not fit the theme, then it may be rated low by other participants
- THE JAM TIME RULE:You may only work on your game during the jam period. Setting up your itch.io account or other things is allowed, but you can’t work on the game itself until the starting date. Goofing off until the last minute and then getting started would not be wise. Doing it as the jam progresses(Provided you eat and sleep of course) will make submitting and working on your game much, much more manageable
- Don’t harass others:Comments in games and discussion boards and games shouldn’t offend others
- NO DISCRIMINATORY CONTENT:Don’t make games or content that discriminates against others
Generally speaking, just because it’s not listed doesn’t mean it’s not allowed. If you have to ask yourself whether it’s allowed or not, then it most likely isn’t. Purplecade and the itch.io staff have the final say in any situation.
Now that you read these rules, stay tuned and get to making your game(When the jam starts of course)
