Welcome to our annual "Spring Game Jam"!

This year however, we are opening up the opportunity to submit more than just games.

New Rules = New Name

 Proto - Short for Prototype.
Mélange - A mixture of often incongruous elements

This year, our Game Jam has evolved into a mixed media event thus Proto-Mélange was born!

So for example, you can now also join in the fun by:
- composing a theme song
- writing a screenplay
- mocking up a prototype
- designing the rules of a tabletop game
- authoring an animated sequence
- creating beautiful concept art

Be creative, but try to stick to something that would be used to make a game or is at least game related
(I was told that painting my fence did not qualify)

Make sure to stick to the theme and don't forget about the 48 hour time limit!

Here's what you need to know:

Who can enter?
Any member of the studio, no matter the discipline.  Engineering, recruiting or facilities.  Everyone is welcome!  You can work alone or combine your efforts as a team.

So I don't have to just make a game?
That's correct! By opening the event to all sorts of different creative contributions we hope to  broaden participation and showcase the amazing depth of our studio's talent. The project should still be related to game development but games are made up of more than just lines of code!

What can I use to make my game or assets?
Anything really... You can use an existing game engine or a content authoring tool that you are familiar with... or even  one that you've always wanted to learn!

What do I need to submit?
For the submission itself, you can include whatever media that you think best shows off your work (videos, images, etc.). Ideally, the project should be accessible to as many people at the studio as possible. Browser-based or Windows desktop (+ Mac or Linux) are ideal for games. Remember that not everyone has controllers or VR headsets!  After the event completes, you'll have another day or so to provide a trailer or pitch video showcasing your work.  This can be uploaded onto your submission's itch.io project page.

What assets can I use?
The sky is the limit here - feel free to use existing libraries or assets if you want.  Just make sure that you have the LEGAL right to use any assets that you include! DO NOT USE assets from our studio projects!

How do the prizes work?
The intent is to encourage people to express their creativity and have fun rather than a strict competition. All individuals who participate will be entered into a raffle for our awesome prizes. That said, we also have some fun categories that your fellow colleagues will vote on. Anyone who provides feedback on a submission will also receive an additional entry in a second awesome prize raffle.  This also includes people that didn't submit their own projects!

What is the theme?
The theme is...

"Lost in Space"

Good luck! We can't wait to see what you'll come up with!
