Powerdive's Playdate Jam!

Welcome to Powerdive's Playdate Jam!  Throughout this game jam, you'll be creating games for the Panic Playdate, following a theme that will be revealed when the jam starts!  There's plenty of ways to make a game, from the excellent SDK to the beginner friendly and web-based Pulp, so get creating!

Theme

Shade

It's summer (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), and we could all do with a bit more shade!  Luckily, lots of things give shade. The shade of a tree, the shade of a window, the shade of a color.  Even the shade of a long dead ancestor. So as you make your game, just remember to make sure there's enough shade!

Rules

  • No AI please.  We want to celebrate the work of individual game developers.
  • You may assets, but they must be free to use (100% free or pay what you want).  If you use assets, please link their creators so they may receive credit for their work!
  • No bigotry (racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, etc).  You may still tackle these themes, but your game should not be hateful.
  • No NSFW entries.
  • You must include the theme in some way.  The theme is open to interpretation though!
  • You may work in a team or solo.  There is no limit to team size.
  • You may submit to other game jams, provided you follow this jam's rules and the other jam does not exclude submitting to multiple jams.

Prize

The winner will get the satisfaction of knowing they made a really cool thing in a short amount of time!

Theme

How well does the game adhere to the theme of the jam?  Feel free to be creative and take it in a non-obvious direction, but ensure that players will be able to recognize the theme.

Audiovisual

Does the game look and sound good?  Is the art fantastic, or is the music sublime?  Mention that here!
