THE WORLD NEEDS MORE POTATO GAMES!
The 31st of May is the International Day of the Potato, and last year I celebrated this together with other potato-people on Twitch by playing potato-themed games.
I was disappointed to realise, that there are very few potato-themed games, and I have decided to do something about this!
SCHEDULE
From the 16-30th of May I am hosting a potato-themed game jam!
Then, on the 31th of May - The International Day of The Potato - I will invite fellow potato people from Twitch, and together we will play the games on stream.
CRITERIA
You can make any genre of game - action, strategy, humor, drama, dating sim, sports game, racing game, scifi, horror - whatever you feel like.
HOWEVER - A potato (sentient or otherwise) is somehow a key part of the game.
Is the potato a hero? Is the potato a villain? Perhaps the potato is just a vegetable, ready to be cooked! It is all up to you.
This is not a competitive game jam. There is no voting and no prizes. The point is to have fun, meet people, make something cool either alone or with others.
Good luck!
RULES
- A potato, or several potatoes, must be a central part of the submitted game. Interpret this however you please.
- The game must not include any AI generated assets, and cannot include any pornographic or excessively violent content. Please avoid any obviously sensitive topics. Common sense goes a long way.
- There is zero tolerance for discrimination based on sex, gender, sexuality, ethnicity etc. Be nice to each other.
- Assets you have not made yourself must be credited in the submission page and in the game. It is OK to use art, music etc. made by others, given that you have the permission to use such assets, but the original creator should be listed somewhere.
- The game can be made with any game making software, and can be available either through browser play, or a downloadable file.
COMPETITIVE ASPECTS
- None! This is not a competition, but everyone is allowed to declare a winner in their hearts. This is supposed to be a wholesome and fun event, with no prizes, no voting etc.
VIDEO CONTENT
- I might make a video for my YouTube channel of this event (https://www.youtube.com/@StupidP0tatoP0tato), but if you do not want me to feature your game, then please let me know and I will of course respect this. Streamers who will make the game while online are welcome to share highlights from their streams if they want, but there is no pressure to do so.
PRESENTATION OF GAMES
- On the 31st of May - The International Potato Day - I will be streaming and presenting submitted games for the jam at my Twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/stupidp0tato_
DISCORD
- Additional information about the game jam, and notification regarding streams and future videos will be shared on the potato-discord
GOOD LUCK!
