The Popped Corn Bytes Flexijam coming to you this Spring! ๐ธ You like making games? You like a challenge? Join us over the next month to We've made this jam to be supportive and flexible to get kick off game-dev goals. So join me and others from the Game Creators' Club to make something fun and memorable.
Are you busy? Don't have two weeks to work on a game? No worries--flexibility is our jam. ๐คธโโ๏ธ You can spread the two-weeks around the month however you want. Or spend less than two weeks. Or maybe you want more time? That's cool too, take the time you need for the jam. Our rolling submission gives you the chance to pick your best schedule over the month ๐.
Ah, spring. A lovely time. You've just made it through the brutal winter . The breeze is gently blowing, and the sun has decided to cast some warm rays. Spring is the season of birth and life, but it's also a break between the sharp cold of winter ๐ฅถand the harsh heat of summer ๐ฅต. Spring is also a moment of peace. ๐
The theme for this game jam is Respite and Safe Havens.
Design a game where a key game mechanic focuses on a moment of safety or peace. Think about moments like:
Your game can be entirely about that moment, like making sandwiches in the park. Or it can have just have moments of peace for the player to take a break.
Bonus theme: Incorporate an aspect of spring ๐ธ of your choosing (be sure to explain in your submission!)
Let's get the boring part out of the way... ๐ดAlthough the jam is intended to be flexible, certain rules must be followed in order to create a fair and inclusive environment. Submissions found violating these rules will be disqualified or removed from the jam depending on their severity. Breaking rules 4-7 will result in automatic removal from the jam.
Now for the fun part! Games will be ranked by you based on the following:
The jam will have two winners. The highest Overall rank will be the first (i.e. via popular vote). The other will be selected by the host/judge. Each winner will be a co-champion of the game jam. What do you get for winning? A bit of recognition and pride ๐!
If you're reading this and want to make a game, you can join! The goal is to challenge yourself and accomplish something new. ๐
If you're looking for a team, simply join the Discord and say you're looking for a team in the #game-jams channel. If you haven't been able to find a team, I will do my best to find you a team or bring you into mine depending on your skillset.
๐๐๐
Finding a team on Discord works best if you join before the jam begins. Having a team already in place saves a ton of hassle!
Nope! You can go solo if you want!
Discord will be the best way to stay in contact with me and the other participants. We host weekly and ad hoc work sessions for extra networking and accountability. You'll also get to contribute to the jam's theme!
Don't want to join forever? ๐ป We've got you. There will be a Discord option to join for the jam only. Once the jam has ended and winners are announced, I can remove you!
