Lets go to the movies!

Popcorn is an RPG by Adam Vass (World Champ Game Co.) that creates a typical 3 act movie using cards, dice, and playsets.

It's meant to emulate blockbuster movies that might not be the best, the kind where characters are never in real danger and they'll accomplish their tasks without much strife, but the entertainment comes from watching it unfold and seeing characters interact. In the RPG form, players share their characters, create their own jokes and drama- the game gently randomizes events along the generic western hollywood structure! Think Fiasco but for Michael Bay movies.

Included there are the first 2 playsets (Love After The Bombs [post-apocalyptic teen drama inspired by Netflix's Daybreak] and Cancelled [hollywood sitcom drama inspired by Seinfeld and Bojack Horseman]). You'll also find a brief document that can help you create your own playset- it explains some of the dice & card probability that can help focus prompts to achieve your desired style. Additionally, I included my indesign packaged file for layout, if you happen to use Adobe Indesign and want the easiest way possible to turn your playset into a functional pdf or minizine.

BUT this jam isn't just for playsets!

Feel free to hack the game, tweak rules, adapt the framework to achieve other goals, do whatever you want with it. I'm super excited to see what this game inspires in you, be it emulation of your favorite crappy movie or a cool new game that crushes mine.

Some *fine print*:

• This isn't a ranked jam. I encourage you to rate and review other entries but there are no prizes or losers here, just winners!
• No hate allowed, including but not limited to racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, or other bullshit.

• As mentioned, you can make a game, a playset, a hack, a derivative, whatever. TABLETOP AND LARP THINGS ONLY-no digital games. 
• Use the hashtag #PopcornJam on twitter to talk about entries. Feel free to tag me @WCGameCo and I'll share everything Popcorn adjacent.
• I encourage you to charge for your work if you feel like it!  However, I also encourage sharing free downloads with other entrants if you do decide to charge for your work so we can foster a nice little popcorn community here. As mentioned, the core rules are free for the jam, but I do plan on charging for them again in the future and re-implementing my policy of giving the core rules for free to anyone who buys playsets from other creators for at least $5, so you can get paid and I'll back up your work.
• I don't own any of your work, you don't even have to credit me for the
  core rules if you don't want. I just hope you found some movie game inspiration here and create something that makes you happy!
