WELCOME TO THE PLUG JAM 2026!

Make a game, fit the theme, and most importantly have fun!

Welcome to the Plug Jam 2026, a fun competition where contestants make games in 10 days using a theme. This is the second jam I am hosting and I hope you will enjoy, if you have any questions feel free to post in the comments.

Theme

The theme of the 2026 Plug Jam will be revealed when the jam starts.

Content policy

You can use any free or paid assets/tools that you have the right to use. You may not use generative AI of any type for your game. But if you can it's always better to make your own assets or team with someone who can do it for you (will earn you some more points in originality if nothing else).

Voting

The seven voting criteria are:

Fun -> how fun was the game?

Theme -> how well did the game fit the theme?

Originality -> how original was the idea?

Graphics -> how good were the graphics?

Audio -> how good was the audio?

Technical Art -> any shaders, vfx, or other technical art aspects of the game that made you say "Wow, that's cool!"?

Replay Value -> could you play this again without the fun being spoiled?

Narrative -> how well was the story/narrative of the game told?

Rules

Properly credit all external sources of assets that require credit.

You may only create bug fixes during the rating period, not any new features, you must keep the original version of the game up and clearly label it, I will remove any games updating features during the rating period. After the rating period you are free to do anything with the game.

The game must be playable and safe for the computer (aka no malware/viruses).

The game must be free to play (there can be p2w mechanics if you wish).

Most of the shaders must be made by you or a team member.

No NSFW / discriminatory content in the game.

BTW

Here are a few websites that are great for learning game dev (in unity): Ameye.dev, Cyanilux.com, . These are some very comprehensive resources for learning unity game dev, it's also great if you prefer a tutorial to read through instead of a video tutorial like I do.
