What is Planet Game Jam?

Planet Game Jam is a 10-day game jam that happens every few months.

The theme of the jam is optional and is announced early, so that people can plan out game earlier. Rather than having a mandatory theme. In Planet Game Jam, your game must take place in a fictional and unique planet. The planet has to be a special part of the game, and not just a gimmick that is mentioned once. 

If you couldn't submit your game in time, contact me, and I'll see if you can submit it late.

The game theme of Planet Game Jam is fully optional, just for inspiration.

The theme of this edition of Planet Game Jam is: Hacking.

Planet Theme

The planet that you need to make for the jam also has a mandatory theme, which is chosen by the host just before the jam starts.

The planet theme of this edition of Planet Game Jam is: Unfit for Life.

Jam Rules

These are rules you MUST follow, or else, your submission will be disqualified from the jam.

1. Copyrighted or stolen assets are not allowed. 
2. Do not submit a project you already had for promotion.
3. No offensive or NSFW content.
4. Following game theme is optional, but planet themes are mandatory.

Judging Criteria

The games in Planet Game Jam are rated based on the voting criteria. Remember that a game should be rated by the use of planet theme, and not the main one. The voting criteria is as follows:

• Overall - How much you generally enjoyed the game.
• Gameplay - How engaging the gameplay was.
• Visuals and Art - How good art and visuals look.
• Concept and Presentation - How interesting the concept is, and how well it was executed.
  
• Audio - How well the audio sounds.
• Creativity - How creative and unique the game is.
• Use of Theme - How well the themes were incorporated.

FAQ

Can I update my game mid-jam?

Yes. However, such updates can only be small patches and bug fixes. Stuff like adding whole new levels or changing primary parts of the game are not allowed.

What tools can I use for my game?

Any engine and/or is allowed. You can even make your own, if you want.

Can I use code and assets from older projects?

Yes. But only if you own them, or have distribution rights from the owners to use them. You also cannot have most of your game be reused assets, we can't check if you reused code, but we can now about assets.

Can I submit more than one game?

No. That's cheating, one of your games could get bad ratings, and the other good ones. If you submit more than one, all games, except the first one you submitted will be disqualified. If you persist, the first one will be disqualified too, and you'll be banned from the jam.
