Do we have free will?

Make a game about free will. Maybe we are in control of our actions. Maybe we aren't.

If we don't have control, then are we morally responsible for our actions?

Is the existence of an omniscient god consistent with free will?

Are our actions wholly determined by the laws that govern atoms that make us up?

Here is a link to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry on free will to get you started on brainstorming your idea, though it may already be determined what kind of game you'll make. https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/freewill/

Description

This is the third philosophy game jam. The first was in January 2019 and the second was in October 2019. Philosophy is filled with thought experiments and complex ideas that are ideal for making video games; ones that are both educational and fun. From ethical dilemmas, to existential dread, from a god game about the problem of evil to game exploring the crazy thought experiments in the philosophy of mind, there are tons of available topics for games about philosophy.

Rules

  1. Make a game, preferably a video game, but tabletop games are allowed
  2. You can use any assets for which you have a license (try to stick to ones that are freely available or that you made)
  3. You can use any game engine
  4. Games must be made between 2020/10/09 and 2020/10/16
  5. Try to follow the theme, which will be announced at the beginning of the jam.
  6. NSFW content is allowed, but must be marked as such.

Prizes

There will be game keys for the top overall game and the top theme game. If they are the same game, then the second place theme game will get one of the keys. The games will be valued around $20. Obviously, the host will not be eligible for the prizes.
