This jam is now over. It ran from 2020-03-01 05:00:00 to 2020-04-01 03:59:59. View results

  • What: A 31-day chilled jam where you create a roguelike or roguelite with "persistent" elements.
  • When: From March 1st to 31st, 2020 (inclusive)
  • Why: Roguelikes and roguelites featuring persistent gameplay are becoming more common. Often, they're also more accessible to the mainstream and to non-roguelike fans, because of persistence. Join us in making fun and interesting roguelikes with persistence in them?
  • How: It's a chilled jam, so the community will vote on the winners! Anyone with an account on Itch can vote (public).

Rules:

  • Prior code is OK, but please make sure you state in your submission what prior code you used.
  • Ditto for prior assets - please state them and/or reference them appropriately.
  • You can work alone or in teams of up to four
  • Please don't actually work on your game until the starting date. We're trusting you!

To sure as many people as possible can play your game, please make sure it runs on Linux and Windows, or web/HTML5.

That's pretty much it. More clarifications/rules may be added in response to questions before the jam starts.

Q: Where can we hang out and talk to people involved with or participating in this jam?
A:
We've set up a #persistent-roguelike-jam channel on this Discord server. You can use it to discuss the jam with us, show your progress, network with others to form a team before the jam, etc.

Q: Can I make a roguelite, broughlike, etc.?
A:
Yes, of course!

Q: What can I include in terms of persistence?
A:
Anything you can think of! This can include a persistent world (or persistent elements), a persistent character across game runs, persistent upgrades, or anything else! Go crazy!

Q: What platforms should I support?
A:
Since this is community-voted, we recommend supporting either web (HTML5), or Linux and Windows builds.

Q: Can I submit an incomplete game?
A:
You can! Keep in mind that other players will rate your game, so while you may not rank well, you should congratulate yourself for finishing something!
