Summer is here! Plenty of time away from classes to explore and do what you want. Maybe, even... Make a Game??

The PCC Summer Jam is a yearly team based, beginner friendly game jam meant to encourage development on games out of the classroom and to help take the steps towards the development of a student project portfolio!

What is the jam format?

The PCC Game Jam will run for a duration of roughly two weekends, from June 27th - July 12th. Every game submitted must be based on the jam theme which will be announces as soon as the jam starts. There is a twist however, on Wednesday July 1st game modifiers will be announced and all participating teams must choose at least one modifier to add to their game! These modifiers effect either game mechanics or art. Participants are free and encourage to take on more than one modifier, constraint breed creativity after all!

The jam will be a team jam with participants forming teams of a recommended size 2-4. Teams are encouraged to form as soon as possible and to have a variety of different skills and skill levels.

Games can be built on any platform with submissions being posted here on the Jam submissions page. Submissions details will appear during the submission process.

Whether it be a striving for a safe place, capturing a feeling, or something else entirely, your game must fulfil the theme Sanctuary. Goodluck contestants!

Remember all game submissions are required to utilize at least one modifier of either type.


Voting.

This jam will have 3 voting categories.

  • Creativity
  • Artwork
  • Enjoyment

These categories will be combined to calculate a submissions overall score, additionally club cabinet will elect any standout games. For this years jam there is no reward however top submissions will be displayed as Jam Winners section on the official club itch page!

Jam Policies.

Due to the nature of being a club organization there are some policies we must ask game submissions to follow.

Allowed:

  • Pre-made or publicly available art assets.
  • Pre-made or publicly available music and sound effects.
  • Existing code libraries or code frameworks.

Prohibited:

  • AI-generated art assets
  • Overly sexual or grotesque content

We also ask that your team communications and game submissions for a general code of netiquette. We hope to foster a welcoming and encouraging environment and game development should be fun. So lets have fun making games together!
