THEME= Keeping it alive

RPG Paper Maker is a game engine made by Wano similar to rpg maker software like rpg maker mv and mz. But rpg paper maker is in 2.5d instead of 2d.

This jam is hosted to help it get big and more funding. Theme will be revealed at a youtube premiere on January 10 at 12 AM.

GAME-JAM?

So you might be asking what is a game jam? well a game jam is a competition where people make a game a a short amount of time following a specific theme and then play and rate each others games. The person with the best ratings wins.

HOW TO JAM?

You now may be wondering oh goly gee sir how do I game jam and what do I need, well we have prepared a list of tips and tools for you to use.

TOOLS

1. First you will need rpg paper maker to actually make your game link to download is in the link section at the bottom of the page.

2. A pixel art program of choice because a blank game is boring, we advice either aseprite, photoshop or pixel studio (free) but you may use what ever you are comfortable using.

3. Music software of choice a game is kinda bland with-out a good sound track, if you are a beginner we recommend bosca-ceoil but if you're more experienced you can also use programs like FL studio or Musescore3.

4. This one is not required but its highly advised you use it, a planning site of software can keep everything organized and helps you keep a realistic plan by showing you what you are planning to do each day. Trello is the best at doing this.

TIPS

1. Plan ahead.

2. Stay realistic you cant make the next dark souls in 2 weeks.

3. stay organized.

4. Get enough rest a tired person doesn't make a good game.

5. stay original most people who do game jams often never use their first idea because its very obvious and if you want to win you need to stay unique.

RULES

1. The only game engine your allowed to use in this game jam is Rpg paper maker any games not made with it will be disqualified.

2. Your game must follow the theme of the jam wich will be released at the start of the jam.

3. Don't rate other people's games unfair rate fair make it fun.

4. Premade assets are allowed but must be listed on the jam page so people can rate accordingly.

5. Your game may not cost money but if you have to commercial edition of paper maker you can ask for donations.

6. Wood has kindly provided free assets for jammers to use but the use of these assets must be listed on you game's itch page more in the column below.

Discord user Wood has provided a special asset pack for this jam, these are completly free to use. But the use of these assets or any other free asset packs for that matter MUST be listed on your jam page so other jammers can rate your game properly. If you do use an asset pack but didn't list these on the itch page you will be disqualified.
