What's the big idea?

This will be GDA's FIRST EVER in-person game jam!!! It will be held in the Crossroads lounge in the Union from 10 PM Friday, March 4th till 10 PM Saturday, March 5th. During the event, we will be providing food, and attendees are allowed to come and go as they please. The themes will be distributed in-person, however, so be sure to stop by for the kickoff and meals!!!

We hope that this new format will encourage more collaboration amongst our members and that you guys will be able to create some fantastic games!

So, what's the theme this time?

Themes for this jam will be distributed randomly to our participants. These themes will be generated by all participants who attend, and will then be drawn from a hat in-person. (Theme submissions will be monitored by officers to ensure that no inappropriate themes are submitted)

I'm still stuck on the "Game Jam" part!

If this is your first game jam with us, fantastic! Essentially, a game jam is a timed event where participants race to complete game-development-related projects. Submissions can include (but are not limited to):

  • Game Software
  • Music & Audio
  • Concept Art
  • Visual Game Assets
  • Game Design Documentation
  • Board/Card Games
  • And much, much more!!!

The goal of these game jams is for you all to have fun and grow your skills! Whether it be trying something completely new in a low-stakes collaborative environment, or prototyping that game idea that just won't let you sleep at night, it can all be done in a game jam!!!

Rules & Limitations:

  • First and foremost, if it's against University Rules, then it's against OUR rules.
  • No submitting inappropriate theme suggestions or jam submissions. (If you're unclear whether something is considered inappropriate or not, please direct your question to one of our GDA officers)
  • Be kind to one another! We want this space to feel as open and collaborative as possible!
  • If you have any questions regarding a certain action or behavior, please contact a member of our GDA officer team for support.

With that, we look forward to seeing you all there! Have fun and happy jamming!
