Do you remember the Good Old Days? I mean, specifically: that Golden Age when your Gaming Consoles did not save your Game Data? Perhaps a Memory Card was too expensive for your parents to afford, or maybe you used quarters which you’d saved up from your lunch allowance. Whatever the case might have been: were those the DAYS, or what?

Whether your memories of such a bygone Day and Age are positive or negative, this much at least can be established: we who grew up in that time REMEMBER it. That brings me to the Theme for this Month’s Jam:

ORGANIC MEMORY JAM is a [two-]month-long Game Jam which challenges Developers to use not only THEIR fond memories of such a limitation, but their Players’ Memories, as well. Don’t worry; if your Players haven’t had the privilege, your Game Submission will enlighten them.

All Games Submitted are FORBIDDEN to SAVE DATA. This means that the Game must be played without ANY DIGITAL MEMORY of the Player’s Progress.

What’s the gimmick? That is up to you. The point is this: your Game should challenge us to use OUR OWN, ORGANIC MEMORIES in order to acquire Skill and Knowledge in your World.

Games will be judged based on these Criteria:

  • That the Game saves no Data,
  • That Players can nonetheless PROGRESS throughout the Game, through multiple playthroughs, using their own MEMORIES alone,
  • That the Game is Presentable, Aesthetic, Immersive and Engaging.

You can submit a Demo for a Game that has been in Development, but let us know somehow that it’s the case, and don’t submit a Game that does not fit our Theme.

I wish you all a memorable experience; you will need it. Feel Free to JOIN OUR DISCORD SERVER for Discussions, Ideas, Free Assets, and Community.
