Welcome to the 1+1=3 Jam! This jam is all about adding 1+1 to get 3. In other words, you must make a game that prominently features a mixture of separate game mechanics or elements. The possibilities are endless, and it's all up to you to unleash your creativity!

If this 1+1=3 rule confuses you, read this precise explanation by Barvix:

"I think 1+1=3 is symbolic for the date it starts on (Nov. 3rd), and how you're adding different existing mechanics together into something new. So rather than 1+1=2 (adding two mechanics to create something existing) you're mixing two to make something new and different."

In addition to the 1+1=3 rule, there is also a theme: WINTER.

Feel free to use or not use the theme in your game, but know that your overall ranking might be affected if you don't.

The jam started on Friday, 3rd November and will last for a full week. The voting session will last for 12 days after the jam is over.

Want to team up? Check this out

  1. There's no restriction on how many separate elements you can mix in your game. The more the better!
  2. When you submit your game, you can describe your usage of the 1+1=3 concept, as in, which elements/mechanics you have combined. This is not required, though.
  3. There is no restriction on engine used, game type or platform. It can be made using any program and can be 2D/3D.
  4. You can use any pre-made assets that existed before the jam started; but you need to mention everything pre-existing that you use, when you submit your game.
  5. NSFW games are not allowed and will be disqualified.
  6. When you submit your game, make sure it's not an installer.
  7. You can work alone or make teams.
  8. Only one member of a team needs to sign up and submit the game on behalf of the team. That member must mention the names of the people who worked on the game.
  9. You can't update your game once the submission period is over. If there are any bugs in your game, they are a part of the challenge. But if the bug is game breaking, you can request permission to update, from me.
