A Jam for Everyone

Love the idea of a Game Jam but can't get away for a whole weekend? Maybe you're a parent, a caregiver, a student who also works full time, or you're just busy! The One Hour a Day Jam is here for you!

The goal of this Jam is to provide the Game Jam experience to everyone, especially those who can't do the typical short time-frame crunch.

This Jam is non-ranked, with a focus on meeting other developers and completing a game of your own (and building those critical skills to cut scope and finish a game).

The Jam lasts for a month, and the only rule is that you only spend up to 30 hours on your game. Maybe you do one hour a day every day, for the whole month, or maybe you spend 5 hours each day across 6 days. How you budget those 30 hours is up to you!

Theme

The theme will be announced on the first day of the Jam (July 1st).

The theme for this Jam is: Sticks and Stones

Feel free to interpret the theme however you'd like, and incorporate it into you game.

Following the theme is encouraged, but not required. If you really don't like the theme or can't think of anything based on the theme, feel free to disregard it! The important part is making a game and having fun.

Rules

  • Individuals or teams are allowed! Each person participating is only allowed to spend 30 hours on the game, spread across as many days as they want.
  • Track your hours - Do this however works for you! As this is a non-ranked competition, we're relying on the honor system here. But please keep track to make sure you don't go over.
  • Use your best judgement for what is considered time working on your game. Thinking about your game design or current problem while you mow the lawn or take a shower doesn't count, only time where you are actively working on it!
  • Pre-made assets are allowed, but make sure you have the right to use them and follow any license restrictions
  • No NSFW games allowed
