WELCOME to the Thunderful NORTH STAR Christmas Jam!

It’s that time of the year again! With a lot of teams being split up because of vacation next week, those of us who are still around are hereby invited to join in for three days of brainstorming, experimenting and - hopefully - good times!

When? Dec 20-22 - Jam kick-off on Monday at 9:30 am!
Where? #xmasjam2021 on Slack!

Who can join?
Everyone from Thunderful Development is welcome! The jam is not mandatory.

What is a game jam, anyways?
For anyone new to the concept, a game jam in short is a chance to try new things, be creative, and develop new ideas. Usually, that means making a game from scratch during a set period of time, but it can also be a chance to explore and try out a new tool or explore a new mechanic for an existing project

What can I do?
Develop a game/prototype, create a feature, try out a new tool (or engine?)... Anything you feel is valuable to you and that you can bring with you to your current or future project at Thunderful. This is the time to think outside the box! The goal is to experiment and boost creativity, not to create a super polished or finished product.

If you missed it, Johan hosted a presentation going through some useful tools. You'll find it here:

THEME
This year, we want to celebrate our new North Star, presented during our last company update! Pick one (or more) of the keywords and use them as the base for your jam project!

  • Diversity
  • Inclusivity
  • Sustainability
  • Commercial focus
  • Efficiency

RULES (aka. The Nitty-Gritty)
On the last day, everyone will present their jam projects to the other teams and celebrate a job well done. The presentation is mandatory for all participants!

  • Jam hours are the same as your regular working hours. Start and end the day and take breaks as usual.
  • You can attend the jam as a group or fly solo!
  • Feel free to use any TF IPs/assets in your project (but be mindful of what you share externally)!
  • If you’re having fun and want to continue working on stuff after working hours, that’s fine but won’t count as overtime.
  • Since this is done on company time, our usual NDAs and rules apply. If you want to keep working on the project after the jam, you need to run that by TF (who knows, maybe it should become our next in-house prototype).
