ABOUT
The aim of NOISE JAM 2 is to drift through a chill jam for games and non-games, focused on different types of noise. It is not intended for you to work for the entirety of the duration. If you do, take it easy and take breaks regularly. Work reasonable hours. This is a beginner friendly jam! If you've never made a game, you are explicitly welcome to participate!
Noise can take on many forms. The goal of this jam is to create a piece of art that has noise baked into its DNA. Game, game-adjacent, or otherwise. How many aspects / disciplines of your project you want to infuse with noise is up to you. At least one thing has to be noisy tho.
Some examples of noise you could use in your submission:
- Visual: Dithering. TV Static. JPG compression. Saturation & contrast increased to the point of hurt.
- Audio: Distortion. Overdrive. Bitcrushing. Harsh Noise Wall.
- Gameplay: Unresponsive input. Gimped input.
- Narrative: Unreliable narration. Gardenpath sentences.
TL;DR: DO A VIOLENCE TO YOUR ASSETS.
THEME
To celebrate / tie into the art month of funguary (where artists make art around fungi), NOISE JAM 2 will boast an optional theme. If you want a spark of inspiration or a thematic frame of confinement for your submission, follow this briefing. You may choose to ignore the theme if you want.
The optional theme for NOISE JAM 2 will be:

- 18+ participation only. Coinciding with the above, you have to be at least 18 years old to participate in the jam.
- No promotion of hateful content. No racism. No nazis. No cops. No transphobes. No bigots. (You can include them if you bash their heads in.)
- Any type of medium is allowed. Visual novels. Zines. Videos. Regular-ass video games. Fonts. etc. Make it noisy :3
- Both digital and analog submissions are allowed! Mixed media as well.
- Any tools are welcome. For example; Ren'py, Decker, Godot, Twine, Videotome. Consider aiming for a browser build if possible to make your work accessible to as many people as possible!
- You can start early. But just to reiterate: Do not burn yourself out.
- Using pre-existing code is allowed. Recycle your old projects. Continue working on them. Whatever. As long as it's not AI-generated obv.
JAM FORMAT
- No ratings. No gods. No masters. We're all awesome. Make something cool and praise your fellow devs!
- Crossjam entries allowed. If you make a thing for a different jam during the duration of the NOISE JAM, you can also submit it here if it fits the theme of noise!
- Specifically, the tail end of the Ryona Yuri Jam 2026 is going on in parallel to the start of this jam. If your ryona yuri vn also fits within the constraints of NOISE JAM 2, you are explicitly welcome to submit it here as well! (But this rule applies to all other concurrent jams as well, as long you publish your submission during the NOISE JAM 2)
