I like playing visual novels,  and I found some cool VNs on itch that I really enjoyed in the past. But I would love to see some more visual games that do not use the generic anime artstyle. So I am hosting this jam to encourage that!

The genre of the VN can be anything, from slice of life, drama and dating, to horror, mystery and thriller. And more! As long as the visuals are not anime, which I am defining as anything with all three of theses factors: minimal shading, somewhat realistic proportions (with big eyes), and  uniform thin linework. 

The theme is antique. Interpret it however you would like!

Small Prize:

• The winning game of the jam will receive a free illustration from me inspired by their submission. What my art looks like
• I do not have much of a social media following, but I will streaming some playthroughs on my YouTube just for fun.

Rules:

• Both team and individual submissions are allowed.
• Only brainstorming ideas for the game allowed until submission period starts.
• No anime style art allowed.
• No 18+  mature content allowed.
• No ai generated assets or writing allowed.
• Public domain assets are allowed, though its suggested that they be modified and/or used in a limited amount for it to fit your chosen unique art style.
• All submissions must be free to play on browser or windows download.
• A complete story please. If you do not make it to the due date you may add to the game after the voting period is over.

How submissions will be judged:

• Art, and how unique it is
• Story
• Game UI
• Voice acting (if applicable)
• Overall user experience
