The theme is: All the dumb patents that Nintendo has gotten in the US to spite Palworld. This includes:
- Capturing creatures in a spherical object that you throw,
- Riding creatures that you summon (horse or glider-like)
- Summoning creatures that fight for you against other creatures
Secret Theme: Make a joke about things people are anticipating
This jam exists as a way to push back on the recent developments of Nintendo and other companies getting patents on common game elements, stifling creativity in the market.
As a note, traditionally Nintendo has only sued commercial and / or lewd projects that overlap with their brand, so as an event organizer I am not worried about legal action, but I wouldn't recommend making something for this jam that you plan to sell, includes Nintendo characters, or involves NSFW content.
