The Northampton Games Network and Northampton Film Festival are teaming up for NFF’s 5th birthday for their first ever Games competition!
Shortlisted games will be played and a winner chosen at NFF 2026 between 28th February and 8th March. Shortlisted games will be invited to the games night at UON and also to the awards ceremony at the Royal Theatre Northampton on Sunday 8th March. They will receive 2 free tickets per game.
At NFF we want to see originality and creativity, with strong storytelling. And we love work that fits one or more of the characteristics of Northampton – we say Northampton is a town of Rebels and Revolutionaries, Misfits and Mavericks, Creatives and Changemakers!
For submissions we want to see a functional game with at least one playable level and an end screen. Games will be judged on all aspects of game development and how the game has come together into a final piece. Games submitted can be for any platform.
All submissions must include a Gameplay Video (Youtube video) which should include:

These videos may be screened during the festival and NGN/NFF will also reserve the right to publicly share these videos across our social channels.
The contest is open to residents of England in the following groups:

All games must have been created within the 18 months prior to the start of the festival (which is 28 Feb 2026)
All submissions must be made via itch.io
Games will be exhibited using the submission files provided from itch. If your game has requirements (such as a controller) then please state this in the submission of your game so it can be exhibited appropriately.
All rights, permissions, and clearances must be obtained before submission, and applicants must ensure they have the right to submit the work and for it to be displayed publicly. By entering your work, you agree to this and the responsibilities involved. Northampton Film Festival Limited and Northampton Games Network assumes no responsibility for violation of copyright law.
