AND THE THEME IS.... Entropy!
Good luck!
NCSSM Durham's Game Development Club will be hosting a game jam from November 23rd to November 30th. For anyone who doesn't know, game jams are where participants work to create a game from scratch in a short time.
THEME
- The theme will be announced 1 hour before the jam starts.
- This theme must be used somewhere in your game(whether in story, gameplay, aesthetics, etc.)
- Be creative with it!
RULES
- Participation is open to any current NCSSM Durham and Morganton students.
- Participants may work individually or in teams(I would greatly recommend working in teams). There is no restriction on team size.
- The majority of assets and code used should be made during the jam period.
- If you use assets you don't own, make sure to credit the creators on your game page.
- Submissions should not feature any content that could be considered objectionable(don't be an idiot).
- Your game must not infringe any third party's rights or trademarks (music, assets, etc)
- Don't use AI-generated content.
- NO submissions will be allowed after the deadline.
TEAMS
- To join as a team, all members should join the jam, but only one participant needs to submit the project.
- Once the game page is made, in the edit menu, there should be an admin tab under more(it'll be metadata, analytics, distribute, interact, more). In the Admin tab, enter your teammate's itch.io usernames, and they will be added as contributors and will show up on your game page.
- I would also note that some game engines do not support multiple people working on a single project at once. In that case, I would recommend dividing your team into roles with only one person implementing in engine or setting up github version control and working off a central github project.
POST-JAM
- Submissions will be open to ratings from other participants for one week.
- Submissions will be rated in four categories: overall, creativity, style, and enjoyment.
- Each category will have one game as a winner.
- Be proud that you submitted something!
GENERAL TIPS
- Leave time for submission. Setting up a page for your game takes a decent amount of time.
- Make sure whatever tools you use can export to HTML or EXE files. Web exports are GREATLY recommended as it makes trying your game very easy.
- When rating, you can sort games by karma which will put the games whose participants have rated the most at the top.
- Even if you don't fully finish your game, try to submit something.
- Run through your game fully before submitting it so you know it works.
- Have fun!
