TIME FOR ADVENTURE!

Welcome to the world of action and adventure! Prowl this land long time forgotten, where magic works and reality mixes with imagination. May it seem like our own planet "Earth" as it is conceived to have been long ago, or as it will be in the remote future, or it may be another planet or another dimension. Escape from the real world and step into one where all guys, gals, and non-binary pals, are beautiful, strong, and all life adventurous!

The Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation education committee is pleased to announce that in addition to the education-centered programming that will take place the Friday before NarraScope begins, there will also be a day of online workshops on Saturday, June 8.

These workshops will help kick off this game jam and are aimed at showcasing the different tools available for creating Interactive Fiction. Registering in these workshops is required, so please, click the following link for more information:

Everybody is welcome to join.

RULES

This is an unranked game jam for Interactive Fiction games, overlapping with the NarraScope 2024 Online Conference. All conference activities are governed by the NarraScope Code of Conduct.

There are no requirements on what tools may be used, or genres, formats, and no limitations on prior work. Participants are encouraged to discuss their projects and form teams in the #game-jam-2024 channel of the NarraScope Discord. Some tools the community uses, but by no means an exhaustive list:

We aim this year to have a kid's friendly jam, so all games should be "safe" for all audiences. Please avoid unnecessarily graphic imagery or problematic content. Hateful content will not be tolerated. Thanks in advance for keeping this jam safe.

As you may have noticed, this year's theme is Time for Adventure, in the classic Sword and Sorcery genre sense. You can apply the theme freely, in the classic pulp sense, classic text adventure tropes, or as an update to the genre as popularized by the Adventure Time cartoon series.

We encourage participants to form teams (or not) freely and contribute to as many projects as they like. Team projects should be marked as such, but submitted to Itch.io by a single team member. Submissions are due for exhibition for the conference, on June 20th.
