This jam is now over. It ran from 2024-07-07 04:00:00 to 2024-07-15 04:00:00. View results

This jam is dedicated to making games inspired by the Nokia N-Gage. You have one week to make the crunchiest game you can. The lower the poly count, the better!

There will also be an optional theme announced when the jam starts.

Theme: Corruption

What could this mean? From governments to overgrown weeds, it's up to interpretation. Core-Up-shhhh-on

(Please note this is NOT a jam to make a game that runs on the Nokia N-Gage. This jam is to make PC / Browser games that are inspired by N-Gage games.)

Here's some screenshots from N-Gage games to use as inspiration:

But it's really hard to tell.

Rules:

  1. Make a N-Gage inspired game. Game must be the N-Gage's original resolution (176 pixels by 208 pixels) or smaller. Other than that there are no hard rules on your artistic vision, although it would be ideal to use the lowest number of polys you can to really capture the crunchy N-Gage vibe.
  2. You can use any tools / engine of your choice.
  3. Multiple entries are allowed if you wanna make many small games.
  4. Teams are allowed, however I would advise not too many cooks in the kitchen.
  5. Pre-made assets are allowed. However, I would encourage you to try to make your own assets! The crunchy look of N-Gage games already leave a lot to the imagination so perfect representations of what you are making aren't as necessary. If you do use pre-made assets, make sure you have the proper rights to them. (ai "art" is strictly forbidden.)
  6. Don't be an asshole. Homophobia, transphobia, and racism will not be tolerated.
  7. NSFW games are allowed as long as they follow itch.io's guidelines on the subject. (i.e. Properly marking the game as such and not using explicit content in your game's cover image.)

Part of my goal for this jam is I want people to make something "bad". I don't want you to stress over making the next indie masterpiece in a week, I want you to make something you enjoyed the process of creating. Something you personally can be proud of because you made it!
