Modern Fables Jam is a small jam meant to encourage the creation of TTRPG Adventures in settings of a modern world.

Submission Period 
June 29th, 2025 - July 6th, 2025

Voting Period 
July 6th, 2025 - July 13th, 2025

Jam Rules

Setting

It is encouraged that the adventures be set in world that is more modern than common fantasy. Dragons and Cyborgs, are ok but not mandatory.

For time period, I would say 1900s to 2200 or something, though this is not a hard requirement.

Theme

This jam requires that the adventure you write uses the Theme below in some way. You will be judged on how effectively and intuitively you interacted with the theme.

This years theme is: New Beginnings

Eligibility

Any adventure, using any method is fine and for any TTRPG system (or even no system in particular). I would say it might be good to use a system though, as you can attempt to do so much more when you can rely on core parts of a system.

If you cover any topics in your adventure that might be difficult for some, please make sure to include those at the start of the adventure and in the submission form.

You may work as a solo developer/artist or in a team. If you do work with others, make sure that everyone shares credit.

While your submission does not have to be free to the general public, consider having a jam version or community copies. Our judges and the community are not expected to purchase your game to give feedback or submit points. If we have to purchase your game, we won’t include it in our rankings.

You are also allowed to submit more than one submission during this jam.

Submissions that use AI generated content, or are a means to sell NFTs, are not allowed, and will be immediately disqualified.

If uncertain, please ask questions in the jam forum or Discord.  

Criteria

We will look at games based on these criteria:

• SETTING 
  • Is this submission set in a modern world? Does it have something that can be fantastical elements, like dragons, beasts, or robots?
• THEME
  • How well does this submission fit the theme? 
• CREATIVITY  
  • Does the submission push or interact with its medium interestingly?

Prizes

There currently are no monetary prizes to this jam, as it's a jam for fun and creation.

Currently, there is no plan to do a end of jam stream for this jam, but there might; and all top performers will show up and be talked about if it does happen.
