Monash Nexus for Emerging Technologies is hosting their first game jam for 2026, private to Monash University students.
A Game Jam is a short event where you and others work together to create a small game. Most Jams have some kind of restriction on theme or style to get you thinking about games in a new way. Game Jams are a great way to test ideas, build on your skills, and meet other awesome creative people. Whether you've never made games before or you know your way around making games, get involved!
This jam doesn't require a huge commitment! Even if you've only got a couple hours or just 1 day, that's perfect. This jam is perfect for everyone, from beginner game-makers that are just dipping their toes in, to seasoned jammers that are looking for a relaxed weekend having fun and being creative making cozy games.
We are also supported by Monash University's Games and Immersive Media Staff, who will be on standby through Ed Forums to assist in any game dev related questions. Remember to be considerate of their time :)
The theme will be released in-person, at the start of the game jam.
Form a team or run solo with members from Monash University PS. you can meet people on the day and join a group if you don't know anyone :)
Join via the Humanitix link!
If you want to be involved for fun, feel free to skip this part.
Small prizes will be awarded to the top 6 games, with larger prizes for the top 3. These will be across:
Prizes for top 3 are to be released but will involve gift cards and marketing for the published game.
Feel free to ask us anything using our Discord link
We will also be setting up an Ed Forum for teams to ask game building related questions
