This jam is now over. It ran from 2021-08-31 12:00:00 to 2021-11-30 10:59:59. View 3 entries

Most of us have board games, puzzles, plushies, legos, or other artefacts of childhood sitting somewhere in our home, forgotten in a closet, languishing without attention. Or maybe you're a parent and you want to play with your children's toys because they're just so colourful.

This year, just in time for the holiday season, dig the toybox out of the attic, or down from the top shelf, or out from under your bed, and turn it into a ttrpg. Give those toys meaning in life again.

Maybe make something you can play with your family when you go home for the holidays. Or a game you can dig up for your kids when there's a power cut.

At the end of the Jam, if there's interest, I'd be keen to set up a bundle of Misfit Toy games for the month of December

Guidelines:

  1. The game must include a physical component that can be classified as a toy, puzzle, or board game.
    1. games that use a normal deck of playing cards can count, but consider using cards created for a particular game instead
  2. There's no genre restriction. I've suggested some family friendly options because that was my inspiration for this jam, but you're welcome to create a dark, sexy, or horrific game if that's what gets your attention. Just make it clear if your game isn't for kids somewhere on the game page.
    1. sex toys count as toys, if you want them to
  3. Feel free to submit games you've written in the past.
  4. There's no mandate to make your game paid or free, but I encourage you to charge what you think is fair for your work and time.
  5. Feel free to create something in a group, if you like!
