Introduction

The Minimalist Jam is an opportunity for  individuals with poorly rounded game development skills to work towards creating a personal project. Games should not be created for overall playability, story, music, and art, but instead individually developed based on one of the specific game elements. Each submission is expected to have only one developer (no teams). All assets used should be created within the specified development period.

Development

Although each game should involve some playable aspect, you are not expected to know how to professionally program a game if that is not your specialty. Because of this, story-based games may be made in power-point, or some other unique display. Music-based games should be more than a developed game soundtrack and should include some interactive design (but don't necessarily have to). The same goes for art based games. Games involving coding may use generic circle-type sprites, cubes, or whatever you choose to make. The design for characters and environment in a programming based game should not be given much thought as that isn't the main aspect of the game.

Have fun with your game and focus on what you enjoy most

Contestants should take this game jam as a chance to improve their current skills in their selective areas. This is a stress-free easy-going game jam. Any submissions not completely finished in time should still be submitted and improved on in the future. There will be no voting once the jam is completed so submissions are purely for enjoyment.

Theme

A theme will be released at the contest's start. This theme is completely optional and only meant to guide you in a direction.

Theme is: Versatile Swordplay
