This is a chance for students across Midlothian ISD to come together, build games, try new ideas, and see what they can create in a short period of time. Whether you're an artist, programmer, designer, musician, or just curious about making games - you're welcome to participate!

The goal is simple: make something creative and have fun doing it!

Jam Schedule

Jam Start: Thursday, March 12 @ 5pm
Jam End: Sunday, March 22 @ 11:59pm

You may only work on your project during the jam dates.

Theme

The theme of this game jam is ๐Ÿ‘ป Ghosts ๐Ÿ‘ป!

Your game should utilize the theme however you wish! Ensure you convey how the theme is used in your submission.

Teams

You may work solo or in a team.

There is no maximum team size, but remember that smaller teams tend to move faster and communicate better during a short jam!

Tools & Engines

Use any game engine or toolset you want, such as:

  • Unity

  • Godot

  • GameMaker

  • Unreal

  • Custom engines

  • Or anything else that can produce a playable game within itch.io

Choose whatever development tools your team is most comfortable with, but do not generate art using artificial intellegence!

Assets & Resources

You are allowed to use premade assets, including:

  • Art

  • Sound effects

  • Music

  • Code libraries

  • Asset store content

However:

  • All premade assets must be credited.

  • You may reuse code, art, music, or systems from previous personal projects if needed, however you must credit what was reused on your page.

  • You may NOT bring in a project that was already started and continue it. Your game itself must begin during the jam.

AI Content Policy

To keep the playing field fair and encourage creativity:

  • AI-generated art is not allowed

  • AI-generated music is not allowed

All visuals and music should either be created by your team or sourced from premade assets with proper credit.

Submissions

Your submission should include:

  • A playable build of your game

  • A list of team members

  • Credits for any premade assets used

  • A short description of your game

If your game cannot be launched or played, it may not be eligible for judging.

Tips for a Successful Jam

  • Keep your idea small and achievable

  • Focus on one core mechanic

  • Playtest often

  • Don't wait until the last day to build your game

  • Most importantly — have fun and experiment

Game jams are about learning, trying new things, and finishing something creative in a short amount of time.

Good luck!

We canโ€™t wait to see what you build.

Happy jamming!
