The MetaBoy project is hosting our second Game Jam!

We're calling all developers to join us and create an unforgettable gaming experience using our stunning artwork, assets, and animations. Whether you're an experienced developer or just starting out, this is your chance to show off your skills and create something truly amazing. So what are you waiting for? Develop games in hackathon style with MetaBoy artwork and assets! New to Web 3? No worries - we will be providing sample code and gaming templates for all of the NFT Detection & Wallet Authentication pieces to access NFT data to enable your game logic!

How to participate

Join the MetaBoy Discord: https://discord.gg/MetaBoy
In the MetaBoy Discord: Submit a ticket by clicking #create-ticket and choosing "Game Jam 2" as the option. This will help us keep track of entries.
Once you've registered, ready your tools and make your "I'm IN!" post in the #Game-Jam-2023 channel.
Sign up for a free GitHub account if you don't already have one.
It's free! Incomplete games are accepted, though we want playable submissions! So don't stress to make a complete game! It'd be awesome if you want to evolve it beyond this event!
Join the Game Off on itch.io. If you don’t already have an itch.io account, sign in with your GitHub account.
Create a new public GitHub repository to store the source code and any assets you’re able to share for your entry and push your changes before 5/21 @ 12:00 UTC. Submit your game through itch.io

Rules

Submissions will only be accepted if submitted through Itch.io
You can join a team, of up to 3 people max. Indicate in our Discord
You are free to use any tools or libraries to make your game.
If you use 3rd party assets (such as music, SFX or art) other than the provided MetaBoy assets, you must declare this on your submission.
Submissions must include source code, via Github
Team MetaBoy will provide art assets for use during the jam. Please use only the trait combinations of the MetaBoys you own, or use the Loopring API or Hiro API to allow players to use their own MetaBoy (Loopring L2, or STX)
Team MetaBoy will provide example code for Wallet Authentication & NFT Detection for Loopring L2, and STX MetaBoy NFTs.
Team MetaBoy will provide example code & simple game templates for the following frameworks: Unity, Godot, GameMaker. You can feel free to use any framework you want though to make your game!

Environment Setup Best Practices

Pick, install and/or update your tools (Unity, UE, Gimp, etc)
Install and test the skeleton framework (Official links only on Discord & Itch.io)
Sign up or login to your GitHub, and setup the repo. Set your repo to "public" so that the Judges can confirm
Send your GitHub account name to the GameJam Organizers team so we can give you access to the asset packs

Game Dev: 5/12 - 5/21 @ 12:00 PM UTC (10 days, 2 full weekends for the weekend warriors!)

Community Play & Voting Period: 5/22 - 6/01 @12:00 PM UTC

Winners announced: 06/08 @ 4:20 PM UTC

Where do I get Assets?

To get 3D assets for the MetaBoys you own, use the MetaBoy Lounge!

Don't have a MetaBoy NFT? Use "Guest Mode" to get the default MetaBoy voxel model!

2D sprite packs will be distributed at a later date, prior to Game Jam start.

Note: due to dependency issues, Loopring Unity only works with Unity 2020. If you are not sure what that means, use pregenerated 3D or 2D assets instead of this way.
