Let's face it.

This has been a dark, cold year in so many ways. We need ways to connect with ourselves, with our ancestors, and with our communities. We need light and we need comfort food and we need to celebrate our wins.

Welcome to the Menorah Jam!

This is a jam to bring together a community of gamers, designers, artists, or anyone interested in dipping their toes into any of these practices around the Jewish holiday of Chanukah that will be celebrated around the world from November 28th to December 5th this year. It is also for me to spread the word about my new RPG: Miracles & Maccabees. I've run Miracles & Maccabees (in different iterations) for my friends for three years in a row now, and am so excited to be opening it up to the larger Jewish and roleplaying communities. If you try it out this year with your table, I'm very curious to know how it goes, so feel free to reach out to me on twitter or email.

This Jam is also directly inspired by the #MatzoJam Passover Jam run by Gabrielle Rabinowitz and Ben Bisogno last March, and similar jams run in the past like #elijam2k19.

What can I submit to this?

Anything inspired by or connected to Chanukah in any way. Submit things that connect to the themes of light and hope and fighting against impossible odds. Submit things that connect to the winter season we're entering, or your personal memories of Chanukah with family or friends. Submit your RPGs and your LARPs and your rituals, your stories, your poems, your songs, your art, your essays and ramblings. Submit things you made yesterday and things you made years ago and things that you're still working even if they are raw and unfinished. Submit things nobody's seen before and things that have already been part of dozens of projects.

This is a Jam for everyone: Whether you grew up with Judaism, found it later in life, are still figuring out what your connection to Judaism is, or are just an ally and appreciator of all things Jewish. Come join the conversation and share your light with us! 🔥
