Welcome to the Matt Aspland 5 Year Anniversary Game Jam. This is a fun jam for people to partake in over the course of the entire month of April.

This game jam is open to everyone and anyone who wants to join, ranging from beginners who have never made a game before, to more experienced devs. This is all for fun and a learning experience.

THE THEME IS EVOLUTION

After the submissions end, Wednesday 30th April at 6PM BST, there will be 7 days for you and everyone to vote on your favourite games. The voting will be based on 4 different categories. See down below.

You can work by yourself, or in teams, it completely up to you. You can also create any type of game you want. 2D? 3D? Retro? It's all up to you.

You have 30 days to create the best game you can following the theme which is announced on the starting day.

Rules To Follow:

• Your game must follow the theme given.
• The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 30th April at 6PM BST.
  • If you have a late submission, message me in my Discord Server and I can publish your late submission.
• Join my Discord Server! You can find updates on the Game Jam and ask for help if it is needed.
  • You can also find team members if you would like to work as a group
• Remember to have fun with it, and it's better to release a small and unfinished game then not submit a game because you ran out of time.
• Your game must run on Windows or in a browser.
• No NSFW or inappropriate content.
  • Including no strong language or hate speech of any kind.
• All elements of the game creation MUST take part inside of the duration of the jam.
  • However you can use existing assets that you have created.
    • Or that you have bought, as long as you have permission to use them.

Voting:

All games will be voted on by anyone on itch.io, other submitters, people who have entered, or anyone who comes across your great game.

I will also choose my favourite game of the jam. ("Matt Aspland's Elite")

The games will be voted on via 4 categories:

• Overall:
  • How good or enjoyable was the game overall?
• Theme:
  • How well did the game follow the theme given?
• Visuals:
  • How was the art, textures, animations, etc in the game?
• Audio:
  • How well was the music and sound effects used in the game?

Prizes:

• 1st place: 3 assets of their choice*
• 2nd place: 2 assets of their choice*
• 3rd place: 1 asset of their choice*
• The winner and 4 runners up (top 5) will be in a special featured video and have a special role in my server.
• My favourite game of the jam (which isn't in the top 5) will get the reputation of "Matt Aspland's Elite"
