No more shall we raid the humble coffers of the working class goblins.
Never again shall we disturb the resting places of those crushed under the enormous wheels of capitalism.
Henceforth shall we stop fighting amongst ourselves and turn our attention to the true evil: the rich.

Based on a tweet, I give you Mansion Crawl: a game jam about creating encounters, modules, hacks, and games that focus on breaking into the opulent dwellings of the rich and taking back their ill-gotten gains.

Too often we think of tabletop roleplaying games as an escape, as pure fantasy. The sad truth is that much of what we believe to be the foundation of that fantasy—in this context, the dungeon crawl—often reinforces stereotypes and stigmas against marginalized groups on the basis of race, socioeconomic standing, religion, culture, and more. This jam takes a stand against the dungeon crawl and asserts that the appropriate target of our looting—and frankly, the objectively best target for looting—is the rich.

Rules

  1. Focus your submission on interrogating who we fight against and take from, specifically how we often cause harm to those deemed as "other" based on race, socioeconomic standing, religion, culture, or more. You can use the context and structure of the dungeon crawl or explore other forms that help support your take.
  2. Absolutely no racism, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry of any kind will be tolerated.
  3. This jam is intended for analog games and game resources, such as encounters, modules, supplements, hacks, and more. It is a direct commentary on the concept of a "dungeon crawl". Digital and video games that keep to this premise are also acceptable.
  4. There is no voting. We will not fight amongst each other.
  5. You are encouraged to charge for your submission, but not required to do so. If you do charge, also consider ways to make your game available to those experiencing financial hardship, such as Community Copies.
