Jam Details

What: A month-long jam to start, continue or finish a game or tool, work on its accessibility and share your progress! You can: make an inaccessible game accessible; start a new game; make a accessibility plugin for an old project; or work on making accessible tools!

Why: Use this as encouragement to work on your awesome project and collect feedback! The core of accessibility is getting feedback, and we're excited to give it!

How: Work on your project, share it here and in discord, get feedback, and celebrate everyone's hard work!

Rules

1. Blind-friendly: Each entry should be (or try to be) playable by completely blind gamers. This is our community's main focus, so it is a main requirement. Check our past jams for resources on making blind-accessible games.

2. Working towards Accessibility (visual, motor, auditory, cognitive, etc): If you don't finish your accessible project, that's okay! But it should be obvious you are working towards it.

3. No GenAI content: Output of generative AI should not be present in your project, except if it's required for an accessibility need.*

*EXCEPTIONS: Usage for your own personal accessibility need (e.g.: Your game engine has a portion that is inaccessible, so you use GenAI to modify it and make it accessible for you.) Note: even if it's used for accessibility, make sure to comply with Itch.io Rules on AI disclosure. If for whatever reason you are unsure on anything relating to this rule, please contact the team on Discord.

Help and Resources

Don't know what to work on? Here are some suggestions!

Help make a game

Every voice is valuable and yours is too. Teams need your creativity and talent, even if you're a beginner, so join any project as an:

  • Developer;
  • Artist;
  • Writer;
  • Voice actor;
  • Musician or Sound Designer;
  • Game designer;
  • Accessibility consultant;
  • Or even as a player or playtester! Your feedback is valuable!

Check our Discord to join a team. We want to see you there!

A personal project

Start making a new game or pick up an old one:

Is it accessible? Improve it with more content, better usability or better accessibility.

Is it not accessible? Pick an accessibility goal and make it playable by more gamers, like our Blind Gamers community (meet us on Discord)

Accessibility Mods

Thousands of popular games can't be played because they don't account for players' needs, and yet gamers wish to play them.

Make mods for Unity Games:

Create or join an existing modding project for blind accessibility:

Games requested for blind accessibility:

  • The Sims (1, 2, 3, 4);
  • Jak and Daxter:The Precursor Legacy;
  • Crash Bandicoot;
  • Golden Sun;
  • Banjo-Kazooie;
  • Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars;
  • Harvest Moon;
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps;
  • Zero Parades; For Dead Spies;

Have more suggestions? Tell us on Discord.
