This jam is now over. It ran from 2019-09-20 21:00:00 to 2019-09-22 08:00:00.

Make Jam '19 is this Sept 21st-22nd at the University of Auckland. Build your skills and meet new people.

What You'll Learn

If you’ve entered a hackathon before, then you know what’s up. Whether this is your first time working on a game or are a veteran of the industry, Game Jams are your opportunity to connect with people passionate about making things and for you to try your hand at building a game!

During the competition, you’ll be working against the clock to push through each stage of development – from the initial concept to the final marketing.

However, there is a bit of a twist here as most game jams are tailored for digital games and with Make Jam it is intended for physical games, so from DnD to Risk and the like. Whatever game you can imagine, if you can dream it then you can make it!

How it Works

  1. Register yourself
Whether or not you have a team, register now at the link above. We’ll either make sure your team has a table or match you up into a new team.
  2. Meet up on the Day
On Saturday the 21st  you’ll get together with your new team and find out what you’re making over at Unleash Space! ( 20 Symonds St, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010)
  3. Building a New Thing It’s crunch time!
Build and develop your game over the next 48 hours. Whether you sleep or not, make sure to plan for delays!
  4. Deliver your Masterpiece
When you’re finished, make sure your game runs or your video works, then submit the project online or in person.

Important

For  students and staff in Auckland Uni that are participating in the jam, it is encouraged that you enroll for equipment training in Unleash Space in order to use the power tools and equipment in the venue before the event but workshops are open on the first day of Make Jam.

You can register here: https://www.unleashspace.ac.nz/equipment-training/

But, feel free to bring your own equipment if needed :)
