DINOSAURS, who does not like DINOSAURS?

Now you have the chance to create your very own 3D DINOSAUR and make it alive! 

What is this Jam about?

The purpose of this JAM is to DRAW and MODEL a DINOSAUR according to a specific theme, this time being FRUIT DINOS, so create a dinosaur inspired by a fruit 🍏 . Every* delivered DINOSAUR will then be part of a 3D park where they will live happy with other DINOSAURS.

The first edition of #MakeaDinosaur populated our 3D Park of fluffy and chubby dinos that you can see here. It might help you understand different ways you could be part and participate.

Who can join?

This drawing and 3D modeling JAM is for EVERYONE: experts, newbies, amateurs… parents and kids, nieces, etc. All ages are welcomed. 

New to modeling? 

No problem!

If you are an artist who wants to join, or you want your kid to draw one, you can submit just the profile for the dinosaur; it’s not required that you model it.

However, we will also teach you how to do so with a free and Open Source software that it’s so easy you will be able to use it: Dust3D. At http://twitter.com/rafalagoon and this site we will upload some tutorials.

But am I going to compete with CHILDREN?

This is not a competition, this is just to have a good time and inspire others. If you are an artist with +120 years of experience you can inspire children and those who are just starting out. Also, kids can also inspire YOU with their amazing imaginations! :)

Submission Details:

No matter which software you use (we like Open Source), we will need you to send the 3D model in a way so we can import it to Godot (which is the program we use to build the park where the dinosaurs will live). That’s why the submissions should be formated in:

-GLB+Textures/Materials either if the model is animated or static

We will also need a short profile for your 🍊 FRUIT DINOSAUR 🍈 on the itchio page (or an attached PDF also)

• Author details
• Original drawing of the fruit-inspired dino
• Name of the dinosaur 
• Dino profile: size, is it carnivorous or herbivorous? lives in herds or is it a loner? How does his fruity condition affect its life, his past or his future? Whatever you want to imagine about your creature, we’d love to know!
• Does it have a roar or make a sound? You can record it and submit it!
• 🥗 BONUS: Ok, you’re new to modeling, and you’re not skillful at drawing either, no worries! You can be a game designer for a day instead :) Can you think of a game concept that involves your fruity dinosaur? Share it on the document! Describe how the game would go and what mechanics would be affected by his fruity peculiarities.

Send the document and materials in a ZIP file (we won’t take RAR or other formats). During the JAM, we will specify further how you should send it.

If you can test if your materials are easily imported into Godot, great. That will ensure we won’t have problems ourselves. If you don’t know how to do so, we will show you how via twitter.

On Sunday 5th of September at 7pm CEST we will hold an special gala in twitch, reviewing all your amazing creations!

DINOSAURIOS, ¿a quién no le gustan los DINOSAURIOS?

¡Ahora tienes la oportunidad de crear tu propio DINOSAURIO 3D y darle vida!

¿De qué va la JAM?

La JAM consiste en DIBUJAR y MODELAR un DINOSAURIO según el tema elegido, que en este caso son DINOSAURIOS FRUTALES, es decir, crear un dinosaurio inspirado por una fruta 🍏. Todos* los DINOSAURIOS que sean presentados formarán parte de un parque 3D donde vivirán felices con otros DINOSAURIOS.

La primera edición de Make a Dinosaur! nos llenó el parque 3D de dinosaurios achuchables, blanditos y gurditos que puedes ver aquí y que te servirá para ver las diferentes formas en las que puedes participar.

¿Quién puede participar?

Esta JAM de dibujo y modelado 3D es para TODO el mundo: expertos, novatos, amateurs... padres e hijos, sobrinos, etc. de cualquier edad...

¿No sabes modelar? 

¡No hay problema!

Si eres un dibujante y quieres participar, o quieres que el niño dibuje un DINOSAURIO, puedes entregar sólo la ficha del DINOSAURIO, no hace falta que lo modeles.

Pero también os enseñaremos a modelar con un programa gratuito y Open Source, tan sencillo que todos lo podréis utilizar: Dust3D. En http://twitter.com/rafalagoon y aquí haremos tutoriales.

¿Pero voy a competir con NIÑOS?

Esto no es una competición, es pasar un buen rato e inspirar a los demás. Si eres un artista con +120 años de experiencia puedes inspirar mucho a los niños y a los que están empezando... ¡y los niños también pueden inspirarte a ti con su imaginación!

Detalles de la entrega

Da igual el programa que utilices (aunque nos gusta el Open Source), debéis enviar el modelo 3D LOWPOLY para ser incorporarlo en un proyecto de Godot (que es el programa con el que se hará el parque donde vivirán los dinosaurios), así que debería ir este formato:

-GLB+texturas/materiales tanto si el modelo tiene animaciones o es estático.

Una pequeña ficha del 🍈 DINOSAURIO FRUTAL 🍊 en la página de itch (o en un PDF adjunto también vale)

• Datos del autor
• Dibujo original del dino inspirado por una fruta
• Nombre del dino
• Perfil del dino: Tamaño. ¿Es carnívoro o herbívoro? ¿Va en manada o es solitario? ¿Cómo afecta su particularidad frutal a su vida, su historia o su futuro? Lo que sea que puedas imaginar sobre tu creación, nos encantará saberlo!
• ¿Hace algún rugido? Si quieres, ¡grábalos y adjúntalos!
• 🥗 BONUS: Vale, es tu primera vez modelando y te apañas regular dibujando, ¡no pasa nada! En lugar de eso puedes ser un diseñador de juegos por un día :) ¿Se te ocurre un concepto de juego alrededor de tu afrutado dinosaurio? ¡Compártelo en el documento! Describe cómo sería el juego y las mecánicas que se verían afectadas por su condición frutal.

Envía el documento y el material en un archivo ZIP (no se aceptarán RAR u otros formatos).

El método de entrega se especificará durante la JAM.

Si quieres probar si se importa bien en Godot, genial... así en el momento de probarlo no tendremos problemas. Si no sabes como hacerlo, en Twitter indicaremos como.

El Domingo 5 de septiembre a las 19h CEST emitiremos una gala especial en twitch, revisando todas vuestras maravillosas creaciones :)
