The Theme is Retro!

What does that mean?

Well it can mean many things, It can mean games that look like they are from the Atari 2600, or the pixel art of Mario, or even the low poly look of the early Ps1 or N64 games. You or your team has freedom to interpret the theme however they want! Be creative and make the theme your own!

Game Exhibit:

Do you ever get the feeling that your games go unnoticed? Well, you're in luck! At the MADE, it's our mission to showcase games, and yours will be no exception. Every game created during the Jam will be proudly displayed on our showfloor, offering all of our patrons the chance to experience them firsthand. Who knows, your games might even serve as inspiration for children eager to dive into game development themselves.

FAQ:

Can we use AI?

We are currently living in an era of rapidly increasing technology, where AI tools such as chatGPT and Midjourney have become prominent. While these tools offer immense assistance, they also give rise to ethical concerns and apprehensions about what is morally acceptable to utilize. After much deliberation, we have reached the following decision: AI assistants are permissible for programming assistance if necessary, but AI-generated art is not permitted in our jam.

Can we be in teams?

YES! This is a one-day game jam, so it is highly encouraged to collaborate with your fellow developers in crafting a game. There will be an hour-long period prior to the jam's start just to facilitate introductions and group formation. Since this is an in-person jam, make the most of the space and seize the opportunity to connect with others!

Do I need experience to join?

Nope! In fact, this is a fantastic learning opportunity! We will encourage you to team up with an experienced developer so you can benefit from their knowledge while collaborating on your projects!

Can I use "x" engine?

You may use any Game Engine and any tools (That are NOT AI) to create your games. The only Engines you NOT use are engines within a game i.e Mario Maker, Roblox, Dream ETC.

Submission rules?

We request that you make a build of your game that is its own application, You can make a HTML version that can be played on the browser but it must have a downloadable as well.

Is Food Provided?

Unfortunately no, However we do have a break for lunch. The MADE is located in a market district and there are many local business that would love to have you. Water will be provided however, and there may be pizza during the wrap-up party.
