What is a game jam?
A game jam is like a musical jam session, but for video games. It's a creative event where participants come together to develop video games or analog games (such as board or card games) in a short span to encourage innovative and experimental game design.
What is Ludum Dare?
Ludum Dare is an online "game jam" held 2-3 times a year, where participants attempt to create video games from scratch. It has grown significantly since its inception in 2002 and regularly attracts thousands of participants.
Who can participate in Ludum Dare?
Everyone, regardless of their background or expertise, is welcome to join Ludum Dare. You can work alone or in teams, and no prior experience is required, although self-directed participation is encouraged. We also encourage all attendees to come in with a basic understanding of what they’d like to accomplish during the event.

Is this event in-person or online?
Both! The event will take in-person at MET Centre for Arts & Technology Ave and the Winnipeg Game Jam Discord server but registration is required!
Do I need to have a team? Can I work solo?
You have the flexibility to work either as part of a team or as a solo participant. If you're looking for teammates or need additional members for your team, we'll assist in matching you up during the jam.
How is Ludum Dare different from other jams? What are the rules of Ludum Dare?
You can find the rules for Ludum Dare at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules. Ludum Dare offers three submission categories: Compo, Jam, and Extra, each with its own set of rules and timeframes. Choose the one that suits your style and schedule.
