Love Bug Jam... 2!! That's right, the bugs are back yet again!

If you're new here- the Love Bug Jam is a recurring game jam, with the purpose of spreading love to the so-called creepy crawlies of the world. Just like last time, all mediums are welcome! From asset packs to TTRPGs, Visual Novels to Video Games, comics to zines, anything goes as long as it focuses on bugs.

Did you take part in last year's Love Bug Jam, or in the summer June Bug Jam? Were you unable to finish your project, or did you make a demo you wanted to expand, or just wanted to build more on a project you submitted for one of those jams? If so, you're more than welcome to do that for the Love Bug Jam! So long as it is a game that you STARTED/MADE for the Love Bug Jam. If you are resubmitting a previous project, please make sure it has some sort of substantial addition that makes it a separate entity from your first submission.

THEME: Bugs! This includes insects,  arachnids, terrestrial arthropods, terrestrial gastropods, and worms!

RULES:

  • Bugs must be a central theme/focus of your game. While they don’t HAVE to be the playable character(s), they should focus prominently in the game!
  • While shrimps IS bugs (or more aptly, bugs is shrimps), if you do intend to focus on shrimp (or any aquatic crustaceans), I simply ask that some terrestrial bugs also be involved!
  • This jam is about appreciating bugs, so no 'bug squashing simulators' please. Having antagonistic bugs is alright, so long as there are non-antagonistic bugs involved too. For example, a game about a fly trying to escape from an antagonistic spider is fine; a game about a human killing flies is not.
  • Anthro and humanoid bugs are welcome!
  • Mild NSFW is allowed (body horror, gore, suggestive themes), but make sure to mark it accordingly! This is an all ages jam, so everyone please be respectful.
  • Should go without saying, but racism, sexism, and LGBTQphobia are not welcome here. If your game is found to promote any of these things, it will be removed.
  • Your game can be commercial or non commercial, just make sure you have the rights to use any assets you’re using!
  • Using pre-made assets is fine, so long as you have the permissions to use them!
  • Generative AI is not allowed for this jam.
